About this Program

IGNOU's Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) in online mode is one of India's most accessible and widely-enrolled computer science undergraduate degrees, from Indira Gandhi National Open University — UGC-recognised and valid for employment, government posts, and higher studies at the same par as any university-awarded BCA. The programme spans a minimum of three years and a maximum of six years, providing exceptional flexibility for working students and learners who need a self-paced path to a tech degree. The curriculum covers C programming, data structures, relational database management (SQL), computer networks, software engineering, web technologies, and operating systems across six semesters. The government-subsidised fee structure makes this one of the most affordable BCA options in India; eligibility and latest fees are on the IGNOU Samarth portal. Career outcomes include software developer, database administrator, IT support analyst, web developer, and computer lab instructor — plus eligibility for MCA programmes to advance into senior software roles.
